YELLOW GOLD BACK IN VOGUE FOR 2024

After years of watching the rampant proliferation of rose gold in luxury watches, jewelry & accessories, the lighter tone of yellow gold is now enjoying a renaissance among high-end timepiece enthusiasts and luxury consumers. This resurgence is not just limited to traditional dress watches; yellow gold is now seen in sports models and even high-tech, avant-garde designs, underscoring its enduring versatility in the luxury watchmaking. Industry experts attribute this renewed interest to a broader trend of retro aesthetics and a return to timeless appeal. The cooler radiance of yellow gold has once-again become a statement choice, standing out against the understated minimalism of white metals, as well as offering an exceptional counterpoint to the surplus of crimson-hued options.

In all cases, 18kt gold is an alloy of 75% pure (24kt) gold alloyed with 25% other metals typically including copper, silver, & zinc. The deep red hue of "5N" rose  gold is created by adding as much as 25% copper to pure 24kt gold in order to develop the warm ruddy tones of the material, while a roughly even mix of copper & silver, and less than 1% zinc is alloyed with 24kt gold to create the bright flaxen hues of traditional "3N" yellow gold.

Yellow gold carries a somewhat nostalgic association with vintage pieces from the 1960s and 1970s, which is once-again surging in popularity among luxury accessories and Franck Muller continues to cultivate the cooler hue and timeless appeal of the material with models that run the gamut from an elegant evening accessory to that perfect accoutrement to your favorite sport/casual attire.

Whether used as an accent to add a touch of panache to to a given design, or presented as an entire case carved from a solid mass of 18kt material, yellow gold's renaissance among consumers extends beyond wristwatches and into luxury jewelry and accessories as well. The radiant presence of the precious metal has a quality that stands on its own - or can add striking contrast against a variety of complimentary colorways.

As the demand for unique and heritage-inspired pieces grows, yellow gold’s allure is being discovered for the first time by a new generation of luxury consumers - and experiencing a revival among established enthusiasts. It looks great on the wrist and exudes a sense of personal indulgence that will never really go out of style.
