Circular swirls (perlage)
applied by hand recall the vintage dashboards from automotive classics, while a
central sub-dial with snailed circular grooves mimics an
automobile’s tachometer. This inner chapter ring inverts the
traditional layout of a sub-second dial by placing the 30 seconds point at the
top and uses an extended “tail” that emulates the logo of
the Colorado Grand to track the passing seconds, while the longer
side of the hand tracks seconds in the traditional manner on the
outer perimeter.
Each numeral on the dial is formed with laser-cut digits acting
as capsules that are individually applied to the dial.
These rising elements are then hand-painted with a deep filling of rich enamels to create a bold and
contrasting three-dimensional effect on the dial that looks as good under
a loupe as it does to the naked eye.
In each version the “rehaute”, or inner bezel around the dial
matches the green, blue, white and red colorways of the numerals – as
does the contrasting stitching on the strap. Within the four colorways, the
red & silver Colordao Grands are hand crafted in surgical grade stainless
steel, green is solid titanium, and the blue
numeral dial is surrounded by the rich
luster of a solid 18K Rose gold case. Each version is limited to only 34 pieces,
and each Colorado Grand is also supplied on a matching hand-made leather strap with
a tire tread pattern that enhances the motorsport design.
