At the heart of this timepiece is Franck Muller’s new automatic winding caliber FM 720. Comprised of 186 individually decorated components. This new mechanism features a 42-hour power reserve in a tonneau shaped movement specifically engineered to accurately track time and designed to fit perfectly inside the Vanguard tonneau case. The layout of the movement's bridges uses straight lines that extend from the center outward alluding to the layout of the exceptional manual-wind skeleton movements already built by Franck Muller. This dynamic and elegant layout reflects a certain sporty spirit while highlighting the technical merit of the mechanism.

Like all of Franck Muller’s movements, the decorative art of finnissage is applied to the 186 components of the FM 720 movement incorporating multiple techniques including sandblasting, satin finishing, circular graining, bead-blasting, contrast plating, and sunray brushing. This attention to detail highlights Franck Muller's commitment to perfection in all aspects of watchmaking combining engineering, craftsmanship and aesthetic sophistication.

As elegant as the movement looks, it is also an accurate and robust workhorse designed to last indefinitely with proper care. Beating at 21,600 vph, the FM 720 movement has been designed to reduce stress on critical components - extending service intervals and overall lifespan in a mechanism that any properly trained watchmaker will be able to service. Shock resistant, anti-magnetic, accurate, and unique, the Vanguard’s new timekeeping engine showcases Franck Muller’s dedication to vertical manufacturing and is another step towards complete independence from any outside sources.

Offered in five color variants – white, black, blue, burgundy, and green – this collection offers a beautiful harmony between the leather strap and the delicately hand-painted numerals on the dial. Available exclusively in 18kt rose or white gold with matching solid gold buckles, the new Vanguard is offered in 41 mm, 43 mm, and 45 mm sizes so every customer will be able to find the perfect fit for their wrist.
